We either have the smell of death or the aroma of life in the nostrils of those we are around us. Christ forgave our sins by taking on our sin and death, our spoiled and garbaged life. He took on our smell of death. For his is the crucified king. But he also died with and for them, and was risen anew, cleansed, purified, with a pleasing aroma of life. For he is the crucified and risen king. We also carry both the death and life of Jesus in our lives by forgiving others, taking on their sin, death, and rotten lives and making them new by the sacrifice of Christ, purified with a pleasing aroma of a fresh new life of grace, mercy, and love. We can either be a smell of death that repels, destroys, and brings rejection, or a breath of fresh air that attracts, builds up, and restores.
